Chelsea Maya Victory Johnson is a Nigerian writer whose works include fiction, nonfiction, and lectures. He is recognized for stories that blend Western and African influences, with deep roots in Isoko culture.

Born into an Isoko family in Delta, Nigeria, Johnson was educated at Delta State University, Abraka. He spent his early years in Araya and Olomoro. At the age of 9, he left for Warri to study at Ekete Inland and Orhuwhorun Secondary School, before gaining admission to Delta State University, Abraka.

Many of Johnson's stories are set in Olomoro and Araya, the places where he grew up. He started writing during his secondary and university education. His first work was _Road to Perdition_ (2022), a fictional prose piece. This was followed by _The Broken Red Victorian Rose_, a poetry collection, and a play in 2023. He gained early attention with his debut novel, _Water Boy_, along with _The Boys of St. Vincent_ and _The Bride Queen of Nerrma_.

Johnson has cited Chinua Achebe and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie as inspirations. His writing style brings together Western and African influences, with a strong influence from Isoko culture. Most of his works explore themes of religion, immigration, gender, and culture.

He is also a public speaker who has spoken at school ceremonies and literary events. His awards and honours include the MacAnthony Fellowship in 2023 and other recognitions in literature.

I’m lying on my bed in Steel Township, purple walls all around me. My white singlet is sticking to my skin from the heat.  Eyes closed. Breathing slow.  For once, the world outside Udu Road is quiet. No one needs Dirty Chelsea tonight.  No one is asking me to be bad.  Just me, this pillow, and the thought of him.
